ER 8.30.09 update

The IV fluids and anti-nausea Zofran worked and we left the ER around 10:30am.

We were both pretty exhausted by the time we got home, so we crashed for a few hours and then I went and filled Sheila’s prescriptions.

She was taking Zofran pills at home and they weren’t working, mainly because she was barfing immediately after taking them, so they weren’t getting into her system. So this time they prescribed dissolving Zofran tablets that you put under the tongue. Why they didn’t do that to begin with a week ago, knowing that she was having problems keeping anything down, is beyond us.

Sheila’s still not up to full strength, and has been sleeping on the couch a good part of the evening. But at least the new dissolving tablets seem to be doing the job. She was able to eat tonight and has kept everything down. If she sleeps through the night that will be a great victory.

  1. Hi Ken ~ Reading your description of Sheila’s continuing struggle just makes my heart ache for both of you. I find myself without the means or the words that would somehow make things better. But know my thoughts are with you both. In friendship, Stuart

  2. Hi Ken, just checking in to say hi to you both, and to tell Sheila I’m blown away by her resilience.
I know you are both battle-weary, sleep-deprived and tired of this drill, but hope you take strength from all your friends and family sending ‘support vibes’ your way! Always in our thoughts and prayers, Barbara & Frank

  3. Hi ,

Just thought I’d let you know I was thinking of you and love you both.

  4. Dear Ken and Sheila,
I just want you to know that I am with you both and praying for the two of you.
